ABOUT US
We at BeePrepared24-7 are committed to helping you and your Family to better understand the meaning of Preparedness in any Emergency situation. Nobody can predict what might happen on any given day. Blackouts, fires, ice storms, floods, pandemics, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and the possibility of acts of terrorism on Canadian soil, are some of the risks that face us on a daily basis. A good example, we only have to think back to 9/11 or the Ice Storm that I lived through in January 1998. I was 21 days with out power and I was living on a Horse Farm, I thought I was prepared until that time happened, but in hindsight I was not prepared at all. After that terrible time, I made it my business to find out how be prepared no matter what Emergency or Survival situation threatened myself or my Family.
I started with the Government website at getprepared.ca. The first question they ask Is your Family prepared? The website tells us we need to be prepared to take care of ourselves and our families for a minimum of 72 hours. They will recommend that you:
- Get a Kit
- Make a Plan
- Know the Risks
You can sign up for email safety tips and there is the week of May 2-8 which is called Emergency Preparedness Week it is an annual event that takes place each year during the first full week of May. This national event is coordinated by Public Safety Canada, in close collaboration with the provinces and territories. They have a 20 minute video that you can watch online and lots of good advice.
In a major disaster, first responders will be overwhelmed. We all need our own emergency preparedness plan and survival supplies. It is critical to have on hand long lasting food and water, first aid kits, reliable lighting and communication equipment, and other items to sustain us for at least 72 hours or more, in case of any Emergency.
If you have questions please email us at deborah@beeprepared24-7.com we can help you and your family to be prepared.
